Nogent’s rise in the 19th century to become the heart of French cutlery is a story deeply rooted in the scenic Champagne region’s unique blend of natural resources and historical prowess. By the time Nogent was established in 1923, the area had long surpassed its rivals, thanks to abundant iron ore, vast forests providing natural fuel, waterways offering hydraulic power, and the sharp-edged sandstone essential for honing tools.
These elements, combined with a metallurgical tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, became the cradle of Nogent knives. Our roots in this storied region infuse our knives with a sense of tradition and authenticity, making them more than just utensils—they’re pieces of French culinary history.
